An adolescent girl has had constant headache, chills

An adolescent girl has had constant headache, chills, malaise and fatigue for at least one week. She has a sore throat. Her leukocyte count is very high. After an examination, her doctor detected enlarged liver and spleen and increased lymph nodes in the anterior and posterior chains of her neck. The girl also disclosed that three other kids at her school have also been sick this past week with similar symptoms. Why do you think the girl’s immune system is acting this way?
